Celem badania była weryfikacja nowego zakresu badań wirusobójczej aktywności produktów przeznaczonych do dezynfekcji rąk metodą wcierania i do higienicznego mycia rąk.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The basis for preventing infection associated with the medical area, including hospital infections is proper hand hygiene using disinfectants with a precisely defined range of action. It requires the proper methodology of their examination. The aim of the study was to verify the new scope of virucidal activity testing of products for hygienic handrub and handwash - virucidal activity against enveloped viruses.

Material and Methods: Procedures for testing the virucidal activity of the products for hygienic handrub and handwash (including the reference test) described in the standard PN-EN 14476:2013+A1:2015 were used.

Results: The appropriate ranges of reduction of the infectious MVA titre in the reference test with 0,004% glutaraldehyde was obtained. The mean reduction of vaccinia virus titre was 0,815 ± 0,563 log after 5 minute contact time and 2,065 ± 0,555 log after 15 minute contact time. Also, the virucidal activity of ethanol and isopropanol in different concentration were tested. In case of 50% concentration of both alcohols, a titer reduction of at least 5,25 logs was achieved

Conclusions: Obtained results confirmed the correctness of the work of the test system, which aims to assess the virucidal activity of the hygienic handrub and handwash products in the range virucidal activity against enveloped viruses – test system meets all the criteria required by the standard.
