[TYPES OF CORYNEBACTERIUM DIPHTHERIAE STRAINS ISOLATED IN POLAND IN 2004-2008]

Streszczenie.

Poddano biotypowaniu i genotypowaniu nietoksynotwórcze szczepy Corynebacterium diphtheriae izolowane od ludzi na terenie Polski w ciągu ostatnich lat. Wykazano, że wszystkie badane szczepy należały do jednego biotypu oraz jednego klonu genetycznego. Natomiast opublikowane w piśmiennictwie dane wskazują na zróżnicowanie zarówno pod względem genetycznym jak i biochemicznym szczepów C. diphtheriae izolowanych w innych krajach.

Abstract.

Biotyping and genotyping were performed for Corynebacterium diphtheriae strains isolated from
humans in Poland during last several years. All the strains belonged to the same biotype and genetic clone. Similar situation has not yet been described in international literature, although nontoxigenic C. diphtheriae strains have been isolated more frequently in developed countries. However, strains isolated and investigated in other countries revealed heterogeneity of biotypes and genotypes.
